Marielund, Od, Västra Götaland, Sweden
Marielund, is a cozy “year around” - cottage from the turn of the century, located on a small forest road close to lake Soten. You will find a quiet and calm area with the forest just outside your door, a small path will take you down to lake Soten where you can fish or take the boat out for a row. If you are a hunter it can be arranged to join the local hunting team. (Mail for more info and prices).
You have all the facilities in the house, that sleeps up to 6 people. 4 singel beds plus a sleeper couch. There is a shower, flush toilet, electric stove plus a woodburning stove. There is a washer in the house as well.
In the lounge area there is a TV with assorted channels and there is a possibility to arrange for internet.

The Area:
Enjoy a peaceful stay in a beautiful part of Sweden and discover a culturally vibrant province rich in heritage.
Marielund is situated right outside the village Od. In this beautiful area there is 2 lakes. Lake Sandsken which is close to Marielund and a nice lake for a swim, its a shallow lake so the water warms up fast. There is also Lake Sämsjön which also is a great lake for swimming. If you like to fish you just take the path down to Lake Soten!
Stora Mollungen - is a Nature Reserve and one of Sweden´s largest Beech woods area, take a walk through the magical forest. You can also visit the "Loppis" in Mollungen, where they sell antiques & old things. In one of the wings they have a Manor Cafe. Open Thursday - Sunday 12-17.
Visit the cozy Book Cafe, Crea Diem in Od, where you can enjoy a coffee and homebaked pastries. Open Tuesday- Sunday 11-18.
Skogsbo Hällkista - Skogsbo Cist - 4000 year old ancient grave situated in Norra Säm. This is a very peculiar cist that you can climb down into! It was discoverd in 1915 and has 2 covered chambers. When it was discoverd they found as many as 99 different items in there such as amber, daggers and bronze rings. They are now stored at the Heritage Office in Stockholm.
Borgstena Church - part of this beautiful church is from 1100 and is situated on a sand ridge overlocking the small Lake Nossekälla.

At Gäsene Mejeri, in Ljung, you can by and taste samples of localy produced (very tasty) cheese. Open Monday - Friday 9-17. www.gasenemejeri.se
